There was a mother with three sons. The three of the sons were married and out of them two were earning well. The youngest one was not as smart and bright as the other two hence he was not able to earn like the other two. The youngest son’s wife, Gorajiri, was beautiful and talented also. Since the earning was not good they were finding it difficult to meet both ends and this troubled Gorajir and her husband them a lot. She was forced to eat the leftover of her sisters-in-law and he husband was not able to earn any jobs. Since the situation was worsening the youngest son and wife, Gorajiri decided to move out to hut outside the main house. Soon after Durga puja arrived and each one of them were getting ready for the festival but Gorajiri and her husband did puja with whatever they could.
Gorajiri was very angry of their situation and went and sat in the temple without eating or drinking the whole day. Durga Ma knew about the presence of somebody in the back of her and she asked the ‘langoora’ (server of the deity) to find out and he came back saying that the poor lady who was lying is refusing to move out from there without speaking to Devi. Gorajiri was brought in front of Durga Ma and Gorajiri narrated the whole story of hers. Durga Ma offered her some leftover food from the ‘bhandaras’ and she was angry that she was getting leftover food from home and the temple. Durga Ma asked her to calm down and told her to have the food with her husband.
The husband and the wife consumes food after reaching home and the food while consuming turned delicious and as fresh as it had come from the kitchen. The complete utensils turned gold and silver and their clothes became rich garments. As they were watching the whole happenings in wonder their little hut turned out to be a palace. The couple could not believe it and prostrated in front of Durga Ma. The mother and the other sisters-in-law could not believe what Gorajiri was saying and went and asked Durga Ma the truth. Durga Ma told them that they have ill treated Gorajiri and since she always speak the truth and is true she has given her all the wealth and Durga Ma bestowed blessing to all those who were good and kind.
